Harriet Beinfeld and Efrem Korn created this test in their 1991 book, Between Heaven and Earth: A Guide to Chinese Medicine. Total up the positive and negative responses for each section. Look at the phases with the highest positive scores and see if they are adjacent or opposite to each other. Wood Fire and Earth are adjacent. Adjacent phases with high scores are supportive. Wood and Metal, Fire and Water are opposite. Opposite phases with high scores are conflicting. Conflicting is not necessarily bad but represents a potential for change.
